About Us

The Mercurious team is a collection of six students from the Science Group at the County Centre for Excellence in Covasna (Centrul Județean de Excelență Covasna). We all study in the Mathematics and Computer Science department at Székely Mikó High School.

Each of us has a distinct role in this project, and we rely on our collective teamwork to bring our vision to life.

What is CanSat?

CanSat is a national competition hosted by ESERO, where teams compete to build a can-sized satellite. These units must collect data while falling from an altitude of one kilometer.

The selection process is quite strict, as organizers carefully choose between well-thought-out submissions. Our project focuses on comparing the measurements of internal and external temperature and pressure sensors.

Competition Phases

If a team is selected, they immediately begin work on the following stages:

Preliminary Design Review (PDR): This initial document provides a broad description of the team's secondary mission, shell design, sensor selection, and design process. During this phase, teams also focus on outreach and general advertisement.

Critical Design Review (CDR): Unlike the PDR, the CDR describes the final design and functionality of the completed unit. By this stage, all technical documentation must be finalized and submitted.

The Launch Phase: From the CDR until the launch, teams utilize their time to build backup units and polish any remaining details.
