Mercurious consists of six members, all from the Science Group at the County Centre for Talented Students (Centrul Județean de Excelență Covasna).
B. Marcell
I am currently an 11th-grade student in a Mathematics-Informatics class. I have always been passionate about engineering, and I made my first electronics project when I was 13. I find the theory behind electricity very interesting—specifically, how the fields interact and how they travel.
I wanted to participate in this project because I saw others from my school participate in previous years, and it really caught my attention. It is a competition that encapsulates what I love about engineering.
E. Ferenc
I am currently a 10th-grade student who has been passionate about solving math problems since the 2nd grade. What I find beautiful about math is its logical clarity: even the hardest math problems can be solved by combining simple mathematical statements. I currently study in a Mathematics-Computer Science class, and I plan to continue my career in the field of applied math.
I wanted to participate in this project because it offers a chance to try applied math, since the majority of math contests focus on theoretical problems. This project is also a great opportunity to enhance my teamwork and communication skills.
M. Sándor-Robert
I am currently a 10th-grade student, in the Mathematics-Computer Science class. I have always been passionate about STEM subjects, especially Mathematics and Computer Science, and I plan on continuing my career in this field, planning to attend a CS university. I am also familiar with other languages, mainly English and Romanian having achieved mention-worthy results in the past.
This competition spiked my interest, as it gives me a solid base in technical fields. I am looking forward to achieving great progress in this competition, and learning about various new things.
O. Ágnes
I am a 10th-grade student who has always been passionate about STEM subjects. Growing up, I participated in numerous mathematics competitions, where I achieved several notable results. Since childhood, I have been a creative person, constantly designing and building different things. Over time, I realized that I wanted to use my creativity not just as a hobby, but as a way to learn and develop my skills.
When I first heard about this competition, I wasn’t entirely sure what it involved, but I found myself wondering whether I would ever have the opportunity to take part in it. When I later saw the official call, I realized that this was my chance to apply my theoretical knowledge in a practical context. I am excited to learn new things and to better understand what an engineering project truly involves.
Sz.-F. Tamás
As a 10th-grade student in the Mathematics–Computer Science class, I’ve always been interested in engineering. Although we are currently studying C++ in school, with some prior experience and support from peers and LLMs, I was able to get started with web development and adapt this web-based software platform to suit our team, Mercurious.
When my classmates invited me to join their team, I immediately accepted, as the competition promised a fun learning experience and an opportunity to improve our teamwork—and it truly delivered. I enjoy creating something unique, and through this competition, I’ve had the chance to do exactly that.
V. Mátyás
I grew up watching documentaries about space, technology, and nature, which is where my love for STEM subjects began. Now, as a 10th-grade student in a Mathematics-Computer Science class, I can confidently say that I am in the right place to do what I love.
While theoretical Computer Science is interesting on its own, when I heard about this competition, I knew it would be a great opportunity to program something physical. I am looking forward to learning new things, gaining experience in this field, and practicing my communication skills.
